Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter

Title: Out of Sight, Out of Time
Author: Ally Carter
Pages: 294
Published: March 2012
Rating: 5/5
Synopsis: The last thing Cammie Morgan remembers is leaving the Gallagher Academy to protect her friends and family from the Circle of Cavan--an ancient terrorist organization that has been hunting her for over a year. But when Cammie wakes up in an alpine convent and discovers months have passed, she must face the fact that her memory is now a black hole. The only traces left of Cammie’s summer vacation are the bruises on her body and the dirt under her nails, and all she wants is to go home.

Once she returns to school, however, Cammie realizes that even the Gallagher Academy now holds more questions than answers. Cammie, her friends, and mysterious spy-guy Zach must face their most difficult challenge yet as they travel to the other side of the world, hoping to piece together the clues that Cammie left behind. It’s a race against time. The Circle is hot on their trail and willing stop at nothing to prevent Cammie from remembering what she did last summer.

My Thoughts: Cammie has woken up in a place that she doesn't know and has no idea how she got there. After getting back to school without any memory of what she did over the summer she will start to put together the pieces of flashbacks and evidence that she gets to know what she did. Over the course of the book she will learn things that she may want to forget about.

We start off in the same place as Cammie without knowing anything of what happened during her summer. Everyone that she talks to someone they tell her it's best to leave it alone but of course she doesn't listen to them and starts looking for answers. She develops as a character and I really liked how she reacted to a certain thing that happened. There were a lot of mysteries that she didn't know and went on a mission to know them and also know herself.

I have to say that this was the darkest book in all. Comparing it to the first book which was light and with a boyfriend problem this was more a story of the darker secrets that we have been learning about. Things start to get clearer with the answer of why the Circle of Cavan has been wanting Cammie. And that end? Intense! Seeing how they figured things out was interesting since we were seeing things from Cammie's point of view.

For me this was the best book out of all five. We finally get answers to some of the questions that have been going on for a while. If you haven't read this series you really should. All the books have gotten better and everything that happens keeps you reading until you finish the book. Definitely a great book! =)

Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Title: Uncommon Criminals
Author: Ally Carter
Release: June 21st 2011

Goodreads Summary: Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life: Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she’s simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That’s why Kat isn’t surprised when she’s asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners.

There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn’t been seen in public in thirty years. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long — and in Kat’s world, history almost always repeats itself. But it’s the third problem that makes Kat’s crew the most nervous, and that is . . . the emerald is cursed.

Kat might be in way over her head, but she’s not going down without a fight. After all, she has her best friend — the gorgeous Hale — and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses and realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time.

Which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules.

I recently read and reviewed Heist Society and I loved it! Ally is a genius! I can't wait to see what next thing Kat does and how she solves the problems that she gets herself into! =)

Heist Society by Ally Carter

Title: Heist Society
Author: Ally Carter
Release: 2010
Pages: 287
Rating: 5/5
Synopsis: When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her to the Louvre...to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria...to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own—scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving "the life" for a normal life proves harder than she'd expected.

Soon, Kat's friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring her back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has good reason: a powerful mobster's art collection has been stolen, and he wants it returned. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat’s father isn’t just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat’s dad needs her help.

For Kat there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it’s a spectacularly impossible job? She’s got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family’s (very crooked) history—and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way.

Review: I can't believe that I waited so long to read this book after having read Ally's first series! I should have known that this book would be just as awesome as the books in her first series would be.

First we meet Katarina Bishop who happens to be at one of the best schools that there exists. She is being accused of committing a terrible thing against the headmaster of the school. After being taken back to the life that she tried so hard to leave. After she is told why she was forced to leave what had been her home, she has to go through a journey that will help her father.

I loved Kat! She was smart and didn't let others decide for her. She was determined and had courage to do what she had to even when everything seemed to go downhill. Those are the kind of girls that I wish authors would write about. She was funny and had to make some decisions that affected others, not only her. Some of the things she did shocked me a bit but they seemed to fit her.

Hale was also great! He was always saying the funniest things that lightened the mood. I could tell that he really cared for Kat and only wanted to help her. He wasn't from the family but was always willing to help when it was needed. Plus, he was smart enough to figure some things out and that's something that I enjoyed reading about.

And how about the others? Of course they were equally as awesome! The conversations between Angus and Hamish were hilarious! Gabrielle, Kat's cousin, seemed to be like any typical girl who worries about boys and looking good but deep inside she's just like Kat. Simon serves as the genius who knows all about technology.

I never thought that I would enjoy reading a book about a thief but Heist Society changed my mind. I loved reading about the plans they had to do and the things they had to find out before even attempting to steal what they wanted. I can't wait to read Uncommon Criminals since I know that Ally Carter will have done an amazing job on it!

Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter

Title: Only the Good Spy Young
Author: Ally Carter
Published: June 2010
Pages: 265
Rating: 5/5
Summary: When Cammie Morgan enrolled at the Gallagher Academy, she knew she was preparing for the dangerous life of a spy. What she didn't know was that serious, real-life danger would start as soon as her junior year. But that's exactly what happened two months ago when she faced off against an ancient terrorist organization dead set on kidnapping her.
Now the danger follows her everywhere, and even Cammie "The Chameleon" can't hide. When a terrifying encounter in London reveals that one of her most trusted allies is actually a rogue double agent, Cammie no longer knows if she can trust her own heart.

Review: I had read the other books in the series and I really liked them so when I read this one I wasn't disappointed.

Only the Good Spy Young continues the story of Cammie. She's on vacation and guarded a all times by the parents of Bex when something happens that leaves her shocked. After this incident Cammie must know what is happening and who she can trust.

I can understand how Cammie reacted to the things she found out and that she kept finding out. After trying to find answers to her questions, the answers that she gets aren't the ones that she expected. I was surprised at some of the things that the reader found out and how this played a role in the series.

I was really happy that we got to know more about Zach and of his school, even though I was surprised at some of the things. He was always mysterious and at times I didn't know whether to trust him or not. At the end of the book I was surprised to find out who he was and what he did and some other things.

I can't wait to read the next book in the Gallagher Girls series and see what happens next. I loved the book and all the answers that we got even though we got even more questions.
