The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Title: The Iron King
Author: Julie Kagawa
Published: January 2010
Pages: 363
Rating: 4/5
Summary: Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, where anything you see may try to eat you, and Meghan is the daughter of the summer faery king. Now she will journey into the depths of Faery to face an unknown enemy . . . and beg the help of a winter prince who might as soon kill her as let her touch his icy heart. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series.

Review: The story begins with Meghan who will turn sixteen. On her birthday she starts to see things differently than she normally does.  She finds out things that turn her world upside down and she must go on a journey to complete what she set out to do.

Meghan was a good character. She wanted to save her brother and she was willing to do anything to rescue him, even willing to give up her own life for him. She went through many things and she had to make many choices that at times I didn't agree with.

I enjoyed reading about both Puck and Ash, though I did like Ash much more. Puck was always there when he was needed and at other times too. I really liked Ash. He seemed to be someone great and nice but he was also someone who had gone through some tough times .

I will surely read the next books in this trilogy. I really want to know what happens next in the story and what other obstacles the main characters have to go through.

  1. I'm currently reading this book, but it's a little harder for me to get through after coming out a post-mockingjay haze.

  3. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I loooove this series! I'm a Team Puck fan though ;-) But I must say that Ash won definite points in The Iron Daughter - I can't wait to see what you think of that one!

I'm stopping by on the hop! You have a lovely site!
