Book Blogger Hop (29)

Book Blogger Hop is a fun meme hosted by Crazy For Books. Enter your link and go hop around other blogs that are out there, ready to be discovered!

I'm proud of myself! I actually did my homework all week without waiting until the very last moment! And, I did good in the game I played this week. For those asking what sport I play, it's golf. It's a great sport even though many don't think it is.

This week's question: I try to comment on other blogs as much as I can. I'm also trying to join some social networking sites but I just need to find the time. One social network that I've joined is Twitter.

Half-Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer

Title: Half-Moon Investigations
Author: Eoin Colfer
Published: 2006
Pages: 290
Rating: 4/5
Summary: Fletcher Moon has never been like other kids. For one thing, he has had to suffer the humiliating nickname "Half Moon" because of his short stature. But the real reason Fletcher is different is that ever since he was a baby, he's had a nose for sniffing out mysteries. And after graduating at the top of his Internet class, he is officially certified as the youngest detective in the world. He even has a silver-plated detective's badge to prove it. Everything is going along fine until two things happen: a classmate hires him to solve a crime, and his prized badge is stolen. All signs point to the town's most notorious crime family, the Sharkeys.

As Fletcher follows the clues, evidence of a conspiracy begins to emerge. But before he can crack the case, Fletcher finds himself framed for a serious crime. To clear his name, he will have to pair up with the unlikeliest of allies and go on the run from the authorities. Fletcher has twelve hours to find the guilty party--or he is the guilty party.

Review: Fletcher Moon isn't like most kids his age. He's the youngest detective of the world, complete with a silver-plated badge. He doesn't get big cases and everything seems to go on as normal until he's hired by a classmate and everything changes.

I loved the idea of having a detective as the protagonist, especially one so young as Fletcher. He's just a kid but is trying to act as the detective that his badge says he is.I liked how he didn't give up and solved the case as he was supposed to.

I loved the Sharkeys! They were just like any other family but like every family they were different.  The reputation they had made them want to act the way they did so that others would keep thinking the things they did. The relationship that they had with each other was that of any sibling.

This was definitively a good book. It's a middle grade book but I think that older readers would also enjoy the light mood that it has. If you are thinking of maybe reading it, you should!

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Published: 2008
Pages: 453
Rating: 4.5/5
Summary: A murderer is loose in New York City ...
... and the victims are Downworlder children. Clary Fray and her fellow Shadowhunters have a strong suspicion that Valentine, Clary's father, may be behind the killings. But if he is the murderer, then what's his true motive? To make matters worse, the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, has been stolen, and the mysterious Inquisitor has arrived to investigate, with his eyes vigilantly targeted on Clary's brother, Jace.

Clary will need to face some terrifying demons and even more terrifying family decisions. No one said that the life of a Shadowhunter would be easy.

Review: Things are changeling. Downworlder children are being killed. Clary is trying to sort out her feelings, which are complicated. Everybody wants know what to expect next from Valentine. Jace seems to be getting in trouble, which only worries everyone else.

Clary wants to help her mother but can't seem to find a way. She wants to control her feelings and know what she's feeling for Jace and Simon. She's viewed as the good daughter of Valentine and not the bas son, which I think only made her feel worse.

I love Jace!! I loved how at the beginning he was looking for trouble. He has so many things going on that I felt that he had a right to feel the way he did. The Shadowhunters are seeing him as someone who could help their worst enemy.

I agree with others who say that this series is really good. All the characters are changing in ways that will them accomplish what they want. I can't wait to read the next book!

Book Blogger Hop (28)

I had a game every day this week! I'm trying to get everything done in the very little hours that I have left, though it's been kind of hard. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

This week's question: I write my reviews after I've read the books. I think this helps me to think and know more about the story. I can remember things that happened in the book a month after I read so I don't have the need to write my review right after I finish reading.

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Title: The Awakening
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Published: 2009
Pages: 357
Rating: 4/5
Summary: Cloe Saunders is a living science experiment--not only can she see ghosts, but she was genetically astered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. She's a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control, which means she can raise the dead without even trying. Now Cloe's running for her life with three of her supernatural friends--a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch--and they have to find someone who can help them before the Edison Group catches them.
Or die trying.

Review: The story starts exactly were it left off. Cloe is trying to escape from the place that they took her to. She's faced with some choices that they give her and could also help her find Derek and Simon. She finds herself with someone who was unexpected but that soon becomes someone who will stay.

Cloe is a character that has flaws like everyone else and that also wants to help others. She's trying to sort out her feelings but is also trying to stay alive. She goes through many difficult times were she needs saving and trying to hide from those who want to take them.

I liked how we got to know more about the characters that we didn't get to see a lot of in the first one. Some characters showed a different side of them and were also part of the reason they got to the point that they did.

I really want to read the next book and see what happens. This series is one that I'm really enjoying and I'm glad that it's not so alike to what there is out there.

Book Blogger Hop (27)

Book Blogger Hop is a fun meme hosted by Crazy For Books. Enter your link and go hop around other blogs that are out there, ready to be discovered!

Taking a sport in high school is a lot of work! I like it though so I'm not giving up on it. I'm starting to get the hang of school so hopefully I'll have some reviews up very soon!  I'm also trying to find time to read but soon I will be back to how I used to be!

This week's question: There are so many blogs that I enjoy reading. One of them is In the Hammock. I just really like visiting her blog and reading the reviews that Carrie has. Some others that I like is Tynga's Reviews, Pure Imagination and Confessions of a Bookaholic.
